Ann Holtom to act on aircraft noise

Recent press reports concerning aircraft noise over the Pype Hayes and Birches Green area support the increasing number of complaints which local Liberal Democrat campaigner and Pype Hayes resident Ann Holtom has received on this issue. Ann said: "Everyone wants the regional economy to expand and Birmingham airport plays a key role in this but residents under flightpaths have a right to speak out when their lives are blighted by aircraft noise; a problem which residents say seems to be getting worse and worse."

In response to these complaints Ann will soon be carrying out a residents' survey in Pype Hayes and Birches Green to better understand the state of opinion and find out what people feel the airport, the transport authorities and Birmingham City Council should be doing to help. In the meantime Ann urges any local resident with an aircraft noise problem to keep a record of particular issues, especially night time flights, to help monitor the level of aircraft movements effectively and keep them until the survey commences in the New Year so they can be included in the survey results.
