Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Trevor Holtom has welcomed plans to install solar panels on Birmingham's council houses. "This innovative move will have many benefits for everyone and shows our Lib Dem council's commitment to both its residents and the environment." said Trevor.
The project will:
- create 315 new jobs
- give tenants a saving of £133 a year on fuel bills
- cut CO2 emissions by almost 1,700 tonnes per year
The initial phase of the project will be to install the solar panels on over 11,500 homes and businesses. This will be completed by 2015.
