Just a few days left to save Castle Pool

Ann and Trevor Holtom at Castle Pool

The Labour party in Birmingham have a 'vision' for leisure facilities in the city. This includes the possible closure or privatisation of swimming pools and leisure centres. This means Castle Pool, Erdington Pool and Kingstanding Leisure Centre could be under threat. Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Ann Holtom has already gone on record committing her support to local residents who wish to keep our local pools and leisure centres open, safe and fully available to the public.
These decisions could be taken as early as the next Erdington Distrcit Committee meeting on 30 July. Unfortunately Labour has decided to hold these meetings in central Birmingham rather than in Erdington, making it more difficlut for local people to be there.
Now Ann is calling on Tyburn's Labour councillors to protect these vital local facilitiesand not to vote to close or privatise any of them. Ann said: privatisation might seem an option for keeping our pools open but following the shocking collapse of the roof of the LA Fitness pool in Gravelly Lane is it a completely safe one? Labour always blame the government for imposing cuts on services but they are the ones now proposing to shut down or sell off our pools and leisure centres. I will continue to campaign with local residents to promote healthy leisure activities and keep our local facilities open, safe and fully available to the public."
