Stop this development on Eachelhurst Road: Ann Holtom tells Council

Tyburn Ward Liberal Democrat campaigner Ann Holtom has made representations to the head of planning at Birmingham City Council calling for the building of a new school on the old Saab garage site on Eachelhurst Road to be rejected.

Ann has pointed out that the planners have not taken into account the findings of the Environmental Audit Committee of the House of Commons which call for a ban on siting schools and other public services like hospitals and care homes near busy main roads or other air pollution blackspots.

Ann has also carried out her own survey of local opinion in the roads surrounding the proposed school site. In a statement Ann said: "Local residents are very worried about this development. I agree with their concerns about the suitability of this site. A busy dual carriageway is no place to locate a school for reasons of pupil safety, increased traffic and noise and now, as the Environmental Audit Committee has found, public health."

Council planners have confirmed that Ann's representations, including the published material she provided from the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, will be taken into account before a final decision on the development is reached.
